Visiting Undergraduate Students
(any student not currently enrolled at the College of Charleston)
Registration begins March 22, 2016 and continues until the drop/add period for each session.
For your convenience, registration can be completed in 2 ways:
- Submitting the online application and registration forms
- Visiting the summer school office
Incoming College of Charleston Students
(incoming freshmen, transfers, readmits, and fall applicants still awaiting an admission decision)
Contact the Academic Advising and Planning Center at 843.953.5981 before completing the application and registration forms. Then follow the directions above for visiting students.
Auditors receive no grade or hours for credit; however a record of their participation will appear on the college transcript. Students who wish to audit classes should register for those classes prior to the first day of class following the same procedures as if taking the classes for graded credit. They must pick up an audit form from the Registrar's Office or print it online, take it to be signed by the course instructor on the first day of class and return it to the Registrar's Office during drop/add for each term of enrollment. Payment is due upon registration. There is no reduction in tuition for auditing.
Cross Registration/Consortium Students
There is no cross registration for summer sessions.
High School Students
High school students who are rising Juniors or Seniors must submit a transcript (unofficial is acceptable), a letter from their principal or guidance counselor stating that the students are in good academic standing and can reasonably be expected to succeed in college-level coursework. Then they should follow the procedure for visiting students above.
New Non-Degree Seeking Adult Students
(persons 21 years of age or older)
These are new non-degree students who hold a high school diploma or the equivalent and have not been dismissed from any college or denied admission to the College of Charleston. These students should follow the directions above for visiting students. Those planning on continuing after the summer must sign up for subsequent semesters through Adult Student Services in the Admissions Office.
(SC residents who are at least 60 years old)
Senior citizens must attend walk-in registration in the Summer School Office on the first day of class. They attend tuition free on a space available basis and pay a nominal $25 fee per session. To be eligible seniors must not be employed full time or have a job that provides employee benefits. A senior citizen taking classes for the first time must show proof of age (e.g. driver's license or passport) and sign the "Senior Citizens Tuition Status Admissions Addendum" at the time of registration. Audits are handled during registration.
Visiting International Students
(any international student not currently enrolled at the College of Charleston)
Follow the directions for visiting students above. International students must contact the Center for International Education for a "document check" before registering.
Students who wish to enroll in a graduate course should contact the Graduate School Office.
